Pricing & Premiums

Swyfft Insurance Premiums

Here’s what you need to know about Swyfft’s insurance premiums for homeowners:

  • Premiums are adjusted based on detailed home and homeowner data.
  • Swyfft is known for competitive pricing, especially in high-risk areas.
  • Costs can vary due to factors like home location and the homeowner’s past claims.

Using advanced data analytics, Swyfft Insurance is able to tailor annual premiums, which often results in competitive rates for homeowners. Their pricing model factors in details unique to each home, including rating factors such as location and structural features.

Despite being a newer player in the insurance market, Swyfft is noted for potentially lower premiums than other structures due to its use of unique data sources and an efficient online platform. However, the full price and actual cost of insurance will, of course, vary depending on your circumstances, including your claims history and your home’s location and condition.

What About Deductibles?

When considering Swyfft insurance, it's important to understand the deductible options available, as these will influence your out-of-pocket expenses in the event of a claim.

Swyfft offers the following deductible choices:

  • All Other Perils (AOP): $500, $1000, $2500, $5000, $10,000, $25,000, $50,000.
  • Hurricane: 1%, 2%, 3%, 5%, 10%.

Important: Homes located in Broward, Miami-Dade, Palm Beach, and Monroe counties are not eligible for the 1% hurricane deductible. Homes located on barrier islands may be eligible for Swyfft’s non-admitted program.

Eligibility & Underwriting Requirements

Swyfft Insurance Prerequisites and Requirements

Swyfft uses a tech-driven approach to assess a home's features, which streamlines the insurance buying process to make it efficient. Homeowners interested in Swyfft's insurance policies need to meet specific criteria related to their home's location, condition, and features. These requirements influence the eligibility and pricing of insurance for policyholders.

Home's Condition & Construction

Swyfft takes a few variables relating to your home’s condition and construction into account when calculating an insurance premium quote. Here’s what you need to know:

  • Construction Year: Swyfft bases rates on the year of construction, and there are no “age of home” restrictions. Completely renovated homes may be eligible to use the renovation year as the construction year.
  • Construction Type: Acceptable construction types include aluminum siding, fire resistive, frame, frame with Hardiplank siding, log, masonry, brick/stone/masonry veneer, and vinyl siding.
  • Roof: The maximum roof age is 30 years, though specific age restrictions depend on the roof type and property location. Roofs must be in good condition. Tesla Solar Roofs, including those with Tesla batteries and/or parts, and Dome Roofs are ineligible.

Swyfft does not provide insurance coverage for homes that have certain characteristics or features. These ineligible properties include homes with knob and tube wiring, open railings or stairways with three or more steps, unusual liability risks on or next to the property, asbestos siding, Masonite siding, Enhanced Insulation and Finishing Systems (EIFS) or synthetic stucco on the exterior walls, or any portion of the home situated over water.

Additionally, Swyfft does not cover barndominiums, mobile homes, manufactured homes, homes built on landfills, dwellings smaller than 800 square feet, historical homes, or fraternity and sorority houses.

Safety & Security

When it comes to safety and security, there are a few prerequisites and requirements for coverage. If the property has fire sprinklers, a wet system is required. Also, a central alarm and/or smart home automation system is required for coverage from Swyfft.

Occupancy

Swyfft provides coverage for primary residences only. Seasonal, secondary, and rental properties are not eligible. Home-based businesses with customer traffic are also not eligible.

Other Requirements and Restrictions

  • Ineligible Dogs: Certain dog breeds are ineligible for coverage. These include American Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, Chow, Doberman Pinscher, Presa Canario, Rottweiler, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Wolf/Wolf Hybrid, plus any dog with a bite history and those that show any aggression.
  • Prior Losses: The maximum number of losses allowed is 2 within the past 3 years, regardless of cause.
  • Protection Class: The property must be within protection class 1-10.
  • Plumbing: Homes with galvanized and polybutylene plumbing are ineligible. There are also restrictions on the age and location of water heaters.
  • Electrical: Aluminum wiring that has not been retrofitted, knob and tube wiring, carbon tetrachloride or cloth wiring without a Romex layer, split bus and fuse boxes, and certain electric panels are ineligible. Homes without a central heat source are also ineligible.
  • Pools: In-ground pools must have protective fencing.
  • Claims: Swyfft has specific restrictions regarding prior claims, including open claims, prior sinkhole activity or claims, any lapse in coverage, prior cancellation or non-renewal, and prior liability or fire loss at any location.
  • Home Inspections: Swyfft requires inspections on all risks. They conduct exterior inspections where insurers do not have to be home. For interior inspections, they offer Swyfft inspector or DIY home inspection options.
  • Payments: Accepted payment methods include check, electronic check, and credit card. Full pay is the only payment option. Outside premium financing is not permitted. Monthly pay requires two months down payment followed by 10 equal monthly installments with $3 installment fees.
  • Effective Date: The effective date of coverage can be up to 60 days in the future.

Important: Not all product and/or coverage options are available to every consumer and are subject to underwriting guidelines, policy limits, and policy terms and conditions. The provided guidelines, procedures, and eligibility information are for informational purposes only, and more detailed information can be found in Swyfft's approved manuals. Always consult policy documents for complete details on coverage, terms, conditions, limits, and exclusions.
